Don't forget to pack a sweater--Nurwara Eliya

We knew that the hill country of Sri Lanka would be picturesque, but we had no idea that it would be down right cold. A golden rule of traveling--google where you are going to check out the weather, one which we failed to do. As we crept into the mountains we realized that our summer wardrobe was not going to cut it. Luckily for $10 John was able to get a fleece and a coat for an extra layer.

According to Wikipedia,Nuwara Eliya:  "It is located at an altitude of 1,868 m (6,128 ft) and is considered to be the most important location for Tea production in Sri Lanka." We saw lots of tea and got try some, as well as beautiful vegetables and "exotic" produce like lettuce and rhubarb, which is almost nonexistent in Hyderabad. Foster got to continue the transportation extravaganza and took a horse ride. It was so sweet, as one of his favorite stories recently is Robert the Rose Horse.
