Croatian Road Trip Part II--Omis, Dubrovnik and a stop in Trebinje and Mostar

After our boat tour we headed down the coast to Omis, just outside Split.  We got there later in the evening, but had just enough time for a quick dip in the Adriatic.  The next four days we spent in Dubrovnik.  You understand why it is so swamped with tourists.  The gorgeous old town and beautiful views from the walk around the walls.  The boys loved all of this, bDubrivut still talk about the bus rides we took from where we were staying into the city. John and I had been there almost 15 years ago and rented a room in someone's house in the old city (pre Air B&B days) for around $20, wow how things have changed.  We loved walking around the old town, down its small alleys, shopping, watching the boats and drinking wine and of course eating ice cream.

Our last day was spent crossing over into Trebinje, Bosnia and then driving up to Mostar in Bosnia.  Trebinje is a true hidden gem.  Only a few kilometers away from the tourist busyness of Dubrovnik, Trebinje has beautiful views and wonderful wineries and food.  We had lunch at Vukoje winery, a place that looks like it could be plucked out of Napa valley.  We then drove up north and made it to the famous bridge in Mostar that is  unesco world heritage site.  And with that final day our road trip was sadly over.  Great memories though were made!
