Invasion of the Grandmas Part II--Weekend Day Trip to Jajce

The Grandmas made another international excursion to see us. First to India and then to Banja Luka. We are so lucky that they will make the trip. They were here for almost two weeks and boy did we pack a lot in. We went to Sarajevo, Jajce, Zagreb and all around Banja Luka. Foster keeps asking when they will come back.

The first weekend in Bosnia was exciting. A State Department Travel Warning was enacted, warning all tourists to stay away from Banja Luka As Serbs took to the street in protests in Banja Luka, we "got out of town" and headed to Jajce to see the waterfalls and mills and then on to Krupa na Vrbasu. You guys even became part of the State Department reporting team, as we counted the number of buses headed into the city for protests.

Let the Wild Rumpus Start--We have a one year old!

One year ago, I was walking around the park trying to get Kai to take a hint and leave his snuggly home and then out he came! The last year has been quite an adventure with a new move to Bosnia and trips to KC and Iowa and our jolly little guy has been happy along the way. He definitely has an opinion on what he wants now, pointing and demanding to be carried so he can explore. His giggles and excitement when I come into his room in the morning or come home from work are priceless and I wish I could bottle them up.

What a lucky guy to have both Grandmas in town for your birthday. Kai has become a real Bosnian baby and loves cevapi and french fries. We had his birthday party at our local cevapi place, the Cevapteria. Vera and her family came, as well as our friends Jennifer and Alex and their daughter Alexis. A birthday party fit for our little king. He wore his crown proudly all day, as well as his new shoes from Vera.

Kai is 11 months old

Kai has gotten more adventurous this month, wanting to be like his brother and ride the firetruck around the house. He is still content with sitting and commanding us to bring toys to him or walk around with him so he can touch and explore all of the new things that there are to see. What really makes him laugh is when one of speaks Serbian to him "Ja bih zelila kikiriki" (I want peanuts says Foster) and Kai erupts into laughter. I think that he is going to speak Serbian the best out of all of us and is just laughing at our attempts.
