Reading to Kai

Perhaps one of my happiest parenting moments-the many hours of reading t Foster come full circle@

Let's go ride a bike

Foster's training wheels came off today. Mom was a little worried about accidents and crashes. But nothing happened. Sutton ran beside him the first few feet to make sure he was ok and that was it. A new mile stone checked on the parenting handbook!!

Doing things myself

Kai is definitely determined and wants to do things on his own time. If you try to feed him something no way, but if you hand him a spoon he digs in. He is slowly starting to get the hang of walking. Taking cautious steps holding our hands and getting his balance, slowly but surely!

A trip to the Coast

This trip was at the end of May, but just getting around to finally posting the pictures. After bidding the Grandmas Adieu, in Zagreb. We headed to Slovenia, Piran to be more precise. A small city on the Adriatic which is a Unesco world heritage site. Once we figured out ho to navigate the city which was closed to car traffic, we were fine. We walked around through the beautiful small allies, saw the stunning scenery and splashed around a bit in the water, which was too chilly for swimming. On the way home we spent a few hours in Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia and understood why people call it the "jewel box," can't wait to go back for a longer time to explore.

Trip to Split

We had our first non-family visitors to Banja Luka--yay! TJ and Megan came by Banja Luka for a few days and then we made the 5 hour road trip to Split. They were troopers, going over crazy Bosnian roads and listening to Foster "are we there yet." Then we got to Split and found an actual beach with sand. Foster was immediately in the water, although he thought it was "spicy" (salty) and hurt his nose. He made sand castles and played in the water with TJ and Megan. Kai wasn't keen at first, but then when left alone for awhile he warmed up to the idea and was soon scooting into the water, throwing rocks to make them splash and even stealing someone else's ring tube. The next day we headed to a small island Sepetar and took the ferry there. Foster and John were dare devils on the crazy steep slide. Then we parted ways with TJ and Megan heading to Hvar and we headed home after a little more beach time.
