Foster's school barbecue

Foster had a back to school barbecue last week and the kids in his class sang a song for the parents. Foster was kind of interested in singing, but definitely more impressed with the hotdog that he go to have for dinner.

Funny Guys

The crazy antics of these two keep us in giggles!

Some of their most recent antics. We were in the car and John and I were talking and happened to say "Dog," in the back seat Kai starts saying "uhh, uhh," his favorite dog impression. At Foster's preschool party he told me he was going to a "special place to go pee," then he went to the corner of the outside yard where everyone was walking around and began dropping his pants. He also just discovered that the P in the alphabet is pee, the funniest joke..ever. oh my, good stuff.

Puddle Jumping

Today's fall-like weather was perfect for Foster to hone his puddle jumping skills! He even learned some of the dangers, such as wet pants and "getting the water up your nose"

One thing is for sure, he definitely was entertaining all of the passerbyers on the street and giving them smiles on an otherwise gloomy evening.

Need some new specs

One of Kai's favorite things to do when Vera lets him, his wear her glasses!

Iowa Summer

Lots of family time and sweet corn--that sums up our trip to Iowa this summer! We got to be there for sweet Hannah's first birthday which was such a treat!

Brothers--oh brother

It's not always pretty, but the special connection developing between these two has been fun to watch. Sometimes it is lots of hugs and kisses and other times it is Kai reaching over and grabbing the hair of his unsuspecting brother.

Scoot Scoot Scootin'

Kai is a late bloomer in the walking part of things. He really showed no interest. We were getting a little worried and checked in with our pediatrician in DC. Kai must have known what we were feeling because all of a sudden the day after the appointment he decided he needed to start exploring more than was in arms reach. Not a normal crawl for this guy, but a patented Kai-scoot. From that day on he has been moving his little bottom and legs to get him all over the place. "Atypical" is what the doctor called it, definitely one for the books.

Great times in Switzerland

20 years ago, after finishing high school, Sutton came to Liestal, Switzerland and lived for a year with the Beeli Frauen (ladies): Host mom, Irene, oldest sister Peppina, middle sister Luisa, and youngest sister Sofia. She had a wonderful year and has kept in touch with them ever since she left, visiting several times. It was one of the first places we wanted to go and visit this year. And it was perfect timing, as there were two new babies in the Beeli family, Marta, Luisa's baby and Leani, Sofia's baby. We spent a lovely four day weekend outside Basel, visiting and chatting and reminiscing and catching up. Sometimes it didn't seem that 20 years had passed by at all. Foster is smitten by his Swiss Grandma and we can't wait to go back.
