Temples are my Playground

Wat Pho, known for the giant lying Buddha, was the first temple visit on our trip to Bangkok. Foster mostly enjoyed playing on the Buddha statues and chasing cats and dogs. Bangkok has many temples and we only visited a few on this trip. They were all pretty impressive and very different from most temples in India. The temples and watching Foster playing so carefree among the Buddhas made for a pretty memorable experience.
The giant lying Buddha looking very comfortable.

Jimmy, our tour guide, was mostly interested in showing Foster the temple.

Buddha! Catch me if you can!
Dad - that's just another Buddha.
I've seen like over a hundred since we set foot in here.
What's so special about this one.

Bangkok Street Food

Bangkok offered a dizzying variety of delicious street food.  The best part is that most of the street food is very safe to eat and we didn't hold back. We all enjoyed new and different foods each day of our trip.  Especially Foster, who was able to try some new fruits and foods like pork satay.  Due to our limited food options in Hyderabad, the trip to Bangkok was a chance to reminisce in the diversity of food options that reminded us of the States.  We all can't wait to go back!

His Iowa roots were definitely on display in this photo.

 Sticky rice or giant paan?
Since we're in Thailand - it's the former.

Chasing cats and dogs in Bangkok

Dogs are my favorite animal right now and I got to see so many in Bangkok. Each temple had its share of dogs and cats which were a constant source of entertainment. Cats are also a close favorite but they don't seem to warm up to me when I chase them and scream at them.  At least some cats will let me play with their tails.

Foster's First Haircut in a Bangkok Skytrain Station

We stopped at this Skytrain salon for Foster's first haircut.
Foster?
Are you ready for this?
Ok - I'm ready.  As long as mom is so close.
Good thing I was sooo tired.
Otherwise I don't think I could have sat still for this!

Not only was this set up in a rail station (pretty cool for Dad), but a haircut costs only $3.

A few photos of Foster from our trip to Bangkok

Going for a ride in a Tuk Tuk.
These Tuk Tuks are a nice change of pace from the Indian models.

 What's cooking in the kitchen?

Cruising Bangkok's canals and river.
